Katriona Ilsedóttir Curry
weaver of gatherings
I am interested in how we warm our hearts. How we become gentle in perception to find nuanced ways of unfolding what wants to emerge. How we support the groundswell of emerging life force. I am wildly interested in creative conjuring of life force that rests into the knowing of magic, shared dignity, the interwoven and collaborative reality of generative Life - inextinquishable. We are but a small part of this magic of Life called Earth. We are participants in Life.
I am interested in the wild myriad of ways we can creatively shift harmful cultural perceptions and practices as they are alive within us and among us. I believe that life is a magical and surprising unfolding, full of beauty, mystery, and uncertainty, and, it is also clear that much of our human culture has gotten seriously mired in domination methodologies that substantially harm our psyches, our relationships, and our beloved planet.
In my various work endeavors, I help folks identify, resist, and rebel against the forms of oppression that have pressured them to shrink, hide, contract, brace, flee, fawn, pose, mask, self-harm, rage without focus, collapse, and (or) dissociate. In my work I help people connect into their own deep wisdom, their inherent belonging in Life, and their creative generative supple embodied dignity and vitality. Life force in flow.
I am interested in collective processes that weave us together in playful and radically transformative configurations and happenings. I want to change the ways we do things when we gather to learn, when we gather to heal, so that we do not feel isolated, humiliated, shamed, frightened. It is a quite a thing to be a human learning how to be in all this immense complexity.
As a somatic & creative arts psychotherapist and teacher of therapists, I have been collaboratively exploring creative processes for transformative learning for the past 25 years. As an artist, writer, photographer, dancer, vocalist, and embodied storyteller, I am deeply interested in the ways that creative process connects us to our inner wisdom, our deep center, our infinite dignity, and fundamental belongingness as well as the hum of the murmuring deep - mystery and magic. I am also passionately curious about the ways that the arts and embodiment praxis support us in challenging forces of domination, shapeshifting culture in simple but profound and meaningful ways towards nourishing, sustaining, creative, regenerative social permaculture.
I am especially interested in centering neurodivergence, Queerness, Dis/Ability, POC, Black and Indigenous Wisdom, Methods, Teachings, and Voices. I am interested in learning with and collaborating with all folks who have inhabited the margins in various dimensions and thereby learned so many important things about changing culture together.
I want us all to find resonant meaningful creative kind soft responsive supple dynamic restful exuberant playful exciting comforting connecting relations and places that help us feel that we are whole and loved and valued, and that we can offer the simple beautiful unique magic that we are able to offer to this world. You. Me. Us. All My Relations.
